Billing Information

You can pay your course by credit card/Stripe or ask us to send you an invoice.

If you would like to pay for your programme by invoice, please contact us at extension.school@epfl.ch. This payment option is available only for learners enrolling in a Certificate of Open Studies (COS), Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), or Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) programme.

Please note:

1. You will need to create and complete your Moodle profile before we can activate your subscription.

2. Once we receive your request, we will issue your invoice. Your subscription will be activated after payment has been received.

No, once you have selected a payment option, we are not able to change this for the duration of the course. If you enroll for a different course, you will have the option to change the payment type.

You can access your Stripe invoices from the Home page in Moodle. Go to the Invoices tile and click Access. On the Log in to manage your account page, enter the email address you used to register your Moodle account. If you have previously made a payment via Stripe, Stripe will send you an email containing a secure link where you can view and download your invoices.

No, we currently have no financial aid, nor do we provide reimbursements for courses purchased.

Learner Account Information

Simply go to your profile in the top-right corner of the page and select Edit profileEmail address.

On the login page, click Lost password and enter your username or email address.

As our courses are fully online, we need to verify your identity and match your government-issued ID with your selfie.

Cancelling Your Subscription

As all courses are billed by flat fee, there is no need to cancel your subscription, as it will automatically end at the course expiry date.

You cannot delete your profile directly on Moodle. If you would like your account to be removed or anonymized, please contact us.

Administration

You can download your invoice if you paid with Stripe. For any other documentation-related requests, please contact learner.support@extensionschool.ch.

No, as this is a fully online course, you do not receive EPFL student status or a student card.

Yes, as outlined in the course catalogue.

You will receive an EPFL micro-credential (MC certificate), which can be accumulated and integrated into a broader program. Please refer to each course page for more detailed information.

Learning

Please refer to the individual course information pages, as some of our more advanced courses have specific prerequisites.

You have 6 months to complete a course, including the final course project.

Our programs focus on teaching both the underlying concepts and their practical implementation through code, using hands-on examples and exercises. The courses emphasize learning-by-doing so that you can transfer these skills directly to your own work. A central component of each course is the final course project, which allows you to demonstrate the practical application of the skills acquired throughout the program.

No, course materials cannot currently be downloaded.

Yes, you will retain access to the course materials after completing the course.

The estimated duration and expected workload are outlined in each course description. This includes the time required to complete the learning materials, exercises, and assessments.

Every learner is different, but in our experience, the most successful learners are those who commit to regular learning sessions in their weekly schedule.

Assessment and Certification

All course projects are graded by our course instructors and include written feedback.

Details regarding the course project process will be communicated during the course.

The grading and review process takes approximately two weeks. Please ensure that you plan sufficient time for submitting and successfully defending your project before your course access expires.

Unfortunately, course access cannot normally be extended once the enrollment period has expired. For exceptional cases, please contact learner.support@extensionschool.ch.

Your certificate will be sent to you by email by EPFL Academic Services shortly after successful course completion.

GitHub will be used for project work, submissions, and reviews. GitHub is a cloud-based platform that allows you to store, share, and collaborate on code through repositories. It also enables you to track and manage changes to your code over time.

Support

You are entitled to two 1-to-1 sessions during your enrollment. These personal coaching sessions are designed to help you discuss challenges and successes, improve learning retention, and ask questions about applying the course concepts and tools to your own professional context.

Once you start the course, you will see a 1-to-1 booking button on the right-hand side of the screen.

Platform and Technical Support

Each course includes detailed information about the required software and hardware. In general, learners should have English proficiency at approximately B2 level and be comfortable working in computer-based environments.

You can book a 1-to-1 session, consult the discussion forum to see whether your question has already been answered, or post your question directly on the forum.

Community and Interaction

Yes. We regularly organize networking events and community activities, and learners will be notified about these opportunities by email.

Learners will be informed by email if live sessions are scheduled as part of the course.

Yes. We host graduation ceremonies for learners who successfully complete the Certificates of Open Studies.
